Dr. Sorcha McCormack is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Leeds Law School, part of Leeds Beckett University. She joined the institution in August 2018. Before this, she practiced law in Ireland as a barrister, focusing on Special Educational Needs Tribunal Appeals, and conducted pro bono research at the University of Leeds on disabled children’s statutory rights, which influenced parliamentary policy changes.
Dr. McCormack holds a PhD from Durham University titled "An analysis of the treatment of incapacitated rape complainants: the potential of vulnerability as a new foundation for legal reform". Her research emphasizes Criminal Law and Feminist Legal Theory, critiquing legal frameworks around sexual assault victims and advocating for reforms grounded in vulnerability theory. She has presented her work internationally and collaboratively with Professor Luke Clements.
