Dr. Sophie Perry is an Hourly Paid Lecturer at King's College London, based in the School of Education, Communication & Society within the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. Her work bridges environmental science, education, and societal engagement, focusing on transformative pedagogical practices that address climate and ecological crises.
She completed her PhD in 2024 under Dr. Melissa Glackin and Prof. Heather King, funded by LISS DTP and the Rosalind Driver Scholarship. Her doctoral research explored environmental education programmes aiming to drive societal change, titled *Education for a Liveable Future: A Study of Three Environmental Education Programmes that Seek to Bring About Change*.
Her teaching includes modules such as *Environment & Society* (BA Social Sciences) and *Environment, Sustainability and the Role of Education* (MA STEM Education), emphasizing sociological and ecological dimensions of environmental breakdown. She co-edited the *Heartwood Volumes* (2024), a collection of student-led essays on environmental education that prioritizes unlearning and emotional engagement over traditional academic frameworks.
Research interests include critiques of neoliberal education structures, counterhegemonic methods in environmental education, and the role of unlearning in fostering transformative practices. She is affiliated with the CRESTEM (Centre for Research in Education in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) research group.
