Sophia Leona Rut

Sophia Leona Rut is a researcher at the Institute of Social Ecology within the Department of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). She also holds teaching positions at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and has worked as a freelance curator and journalist since 2020.

  Her work centers on the history of environmentalism in Austria's long 1970s, examining intersections between environmental movements, energy systems, and social ecology. Current projects analyze the "Fights over power plants" in Austria's energy transition, funded by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW).
