Dr Sonia Brandon is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Head (Academic) in the Accounting and Financial Management Subject Group at the University of Portsmouth's Faculty of Business and Law. She is affiliated with the Centre for Innovative and Sustainable Finance and holds professional qualifications as a Chartered Accountant through the ACCA.
Her research focuses on corporate governance, particularly institutional shareholders' preferences, audit environments, board diversity, and social capital. She has published work on institutional shareholders' impact on corporate governance and their interactions with proxy advisory services.
As an educator, she teaches Auditing at level 6 and supervises PhD, Postgraduate, and Undergraduate dissertations. Her prior teaching includes modules on Corporate Governance, Financial Crime, Modern Portfolio Theory, and Advanced Financial Management.
