Songbai Ji

Songbai Ji is an Adjunct Professor of Engineering at Thayer School of Engineering and Adjunct Professor of Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery at Geisel School of Medicine, Dartmouth College. His research focuses on image-guided surgery, medical imaging, and computational modeling of traumatic brain injury. He holds a BSc in Materials Science from Shanghai Jiaotong University (1996), and dual MS and DSc degrees in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis (2003).

Key research areas include finite element analysis, image registration, and surgical navigation systems. He has pioneered methods for brain shift compensation during neurosurgery and developed computational models to study head impact mechanics in contact sports.
