Sonal Singh

Dr. Sonal Singh is an Associate Professor at UMass Chan Medical School, holding joint appointments in Family Medicine and Community Health, Medicine, and Population and Quantitative Health Sciences. A Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Fellow of the American College of Physicians, she received her MD from Patna Medical College (India) and MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Her research focuses on medication safety, comparative effectiveness research, and real-world evidence, particularly in older adults and Alzheimer's disease. She has developed methods to evaluate real-world safety of monoclonal agents and reduce inappropriate prescribing through deprescribing protocols. Her work spans pharmacoepidemiology, clinical trial design, and public health with significant contributions to drug safety and toxicology.

Her recent studies analyze prescribing cascades in dementia, ACE-IT algorithm for EMR validation, and anti-amyloid therapies in Alzheimer's. She has received major funding from NIH, PCORI, WHO-IARC, and the World Bank, with publications in JAMA, NEJM, Lancet, and BMI featured in Nature Medicine, New York Times, and CNN.
