Solveig Straume

Solveig Straume is an Associate Professor in Sport Management at Molde University College, Faculty of Business Administration and Social Sciences. She is also the programme coordinator for the Master of Science in Sport Management and teaches courses such as Managing Sport for Development and Master's Thesis. Her academic base is firmly rooted in sport science and management, with a strong interdisciplinary orientation.

Research Interests: Her work centers on Sport for Development and Peace (SDP), with deep engagement in sport policy, inclusion, gender equity, urban development, and sustainability. She explores how sport policies are translated in local contexts, particularly in the Global South, and investigates inclusion of marginalized groups such as refugees, immigrants, and low-income populations. Her interest in gender issues extends to girl-conscious urban planning and gendered labor in sport philanthropy.

The recent publications reflect a consistent focus on SDP funding, volunteer experiences, refugee integration through sport, and gender inequality. Her work combines historical analysis with contemporary policy critique, often employing qualitative and interdisciplinary methods. She frequently collaborates with scholars across Europe and Africa.
