Dr. Solmaz Tabtabaei is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Howard University's College of Engineering and Architecture. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Waterloo as a MITACS Elevate Fellow.
Her research focuses on sustainable bio-separation processes, including tribo-electrostatic techniques for plant protein purification, 3D food printing applications, and biomass conversion. Dr. Tabtabaei's work bridges food engineering, particle technology, and sustainable processing.
Her publications demonstrate expertise in dry fractionation methods for protein enrichment, process optimization, and novel applications of electrostatic separation in food processing. Recent work explores 3D printing of legume-based ingredients and sustainable protein production.
Dr. Tabtabaei has received the Global Engineering Leaders Award and MITACS Elevate Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her research is supported by NSF and USDA-NIFA grants.
