Solange Lefebvre

Solange Lefebvre is a Full Professor at the Institut d'études religieuses of Université de Montréal, holding the Canada-France Research Chair on Managing Cultural and Religious Diversity. She specializes in secularism, religious diversity, and generational studies. She has led over 30 research projects totaling $3 million in funding, including studies on radicalization, media influence, and prison spirituality.

Her academic career includes directing the Centre d'études des religions (2000–2008) and founding the Centre d'études des religions et des spiritualités (CIRRES) in 2019. She has supervised over 40 graduate students and 10 postdoctoral fellows. Key publications include works on Quebec's Bouchard-Taylor Commission, public theology, and youth spirituality.

Lefebvre is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (2011) and frequently collaborates with media, governments, and non-profits. Her current research focuses on municipal governance of religious diversity and the evolving role of religion post-pandemic. She teaches courses on religion in public life, Quebec heritage, and youth cultures.
