Solange Ashby is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at UCLA, part of the Humanities Division. She specializes in Egyptology with a focus on ancient languages (hieroglyphs, Demotic, Coptic, Ethiopic, Biblical Greek/Hebrew) and Nubian religious practices. Dr. Ashby holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

Her research explores religious transformations in Northeast Africa and the Middle East, particularly women's roles (queens, priestesses) in Nubian religious traditions. Her book Calling Out to Isis examines Philae Temple's significance to Nubian spirituality.
She co-founded the William Leo Hansberry Society to promote African diaspora engagement in African antiquity studies.
