Sofia Verba

Sofia Verba is a Lecturer in Russian at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), affiliated with the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (SHASS). Her teaching focuses on introductory and intermediate Russian language courses. Prior to MIT, she taught at Harvard University and Brown University. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Slavic Studies at Brown University.

Her research examines female representation in Soviet visual art, exploring intersections of gender, cultural production, and historical context. This work bridges Soviet history, art analysis, and feminist theory.
