Sofia Rapo

Sofia Rapo is a Lecturer (currently on leave) and PhD student at Umeå University's Department of Food, Nutrition and Culinary Science. She is also affiliated with the Umeå Centre for Gender Studies (UCGS). Her teaching focuses on foodservice organization and food product development for undergraduate students in the Food and Nutrition program. Her PhD research, supervised by Ethel Kautto and Agneta Hörnell, investigates the organization of hospital catering services.

Her research interests include hospital meal operations, patient satisfaction, and internationalization strategies in academic programs. She has contributed to studies on hospital foodservice quality and pedagogical internationalization in higher education.

Rapo has been involved in research projects such as 'Opportunities and challenges in hospital meal services' (since 2017) and 'Opportunities and challenges within the hospital's meal operations' (2017–2023). She holds no listed scientific awards but remains an active educator and researcher in her field.
