Sofia Fellini

Sofia Fellini is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics and Acoustics (LMFA - UMR 5509), affiliated with École Centrale de Lyon. She works within the Environmental Flows research team focusing on urban environmental fluid dynamics and pollutant dispersion modeling.

Her educational background includes a joint PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Fluid Mechanics from Politecnico di Torino (Italy) and École Centrale de Lyon (France), completed between 2017-2020. Prior to this, she earned a Master's degree in Environmental and Land Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (2013-2015) and a Bachelor's degree from Università di Padova (2010-2013).

Fellini's research centers on environmental fluid mechanics with specific expertise in urban pollutant dispersion, urban microclimate, and vegetation effects in city environments. Her methodological approach combines wind tunnel experiments with advanced computational techniques including Lattice-Boltzmann simulations and complex network theory. Since June 2021, she has been working on the ALBUS project (Atmospheric Lattice Boltzmann Urban Simulations), developing sophisticated models for atmospheric flows in urban settings.

Her work bridges theoretical fluid dynamics with practical environmental applications, particularly focusing on how urban planning and vegetation can mitigate pollution exposure in city environments. The integration of experimental and computational methods in her research provides comprehensive insights into complex urban flow phenomena.
