Skye Chernicchky-Karcher

Skye Chernicchky-Karcher is an Associate Professor at Bloomsburg University in the Department of Communication Studies and Media and Journalism. She joined the faculty in 2017 after earning her Ph.D. in Health and Family Communication from Purdue University.

Her research focuses on:

• Family and health communication dynamics
• Stress coping mechanisms during transitions
• Military deployment impacts on families
• Cancer communication in family contexts

She teaches courses in Interpersonal Communication and Public Speaking. Her work has been published in Health Communication, Journal of Family Communication, and Journal of Applied Communication Research. She received the ICA Interpersonal Communication Division 2018 Outstanding Dissertation Award.
