Dr. Sjoukje Osinga is an Assistant Professor in the Information Technology group at Wageningen University's Department of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on computational social science, natural language processing, and agent-based modelling (ABM), particularly in agricultural systems. She holds a PhD from Wageningen University (200X) on ABM applications in knowledge management within the pig farming sector, including fieldwork in China.
Education: MSc in Artificial Intelligence & Cognitive Science from Universities of Groningen (Netherlands) and Leuven (Belgium). Completed University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) in 2016.
Research interests include big data applications in agriculture, sentiment analysis for policy-making, and bridging agribusiness problems with AI solutions. She co-developed the EdX MOOC 'Big Data for Agri-Food' and contributes to EU projects like Cybele (big data in agriculture) and Dragon (ABM knowledge transfer).
A member of the SiLiCo Centre, she specializes in simulating complex systems through agent-based models. Teaches courses including Applied Information Technology, Agent-Based Modelling, and Python programming for health/nutrition students.
