About
Dr. Siva Karuturi is a Researcher affiliated with the ANU College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and the Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions at The Australian National University. His primary research focuses on advanced materials and technologies for sustainable energy, including atomic layer deposition (ALD), thin film growth, nanostructure fabrication, and solar energy conversion. He is actively involved in three research groups: Energy Storage and Recovery, Solar Photovoltaics, and the Hydrogen Economy.
Research Interests:
- Development of novel photocatalysts and electrocatalysts for water splitting and CO₂ reduction
- Design of high-efficiency photovoltaic materials (e.g., InP, AlGaAs, perovskites)
- Thin film fabrication techniques (e.g., MOCVD, mechanical exfoliation)
- Energy storage systems and scalable electrochemical devices
His recent work highlights advancements in photoelectrochemical cells, tandem solar cells, and bifunctional catalysts. The articles emphasize optimizing materials for real-world applications, such as transitioning laboratory-scale catalysts to industrial processes and enhancing solar water splitting efficiency. His contributions span from fundamental material characterization to device-level engineering.
Notable achievements include achieving 27.7% efficiency in mechanically-stacked perovskite/InGaAsP tandem solar cells and developing scalable NiFe(OH)x/Fe/Graphene electrocatalysts for water splitting. His research bridges nanotechnology, semiconductor physics, and renewable energy systems to address global energy challenges.
