Sinead O'Brien

Sinead O'Brien is a Specialist Visiting Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University's College of Business, Technology and Engineering, where she teaches Technical Computing. She works part-time at SHU while maintaining a primary role in Information Security and Compliance at the University of Sheffield.

Her research focuses on large-scale web systems (>7 million users), multilingual platforms, and information security architectures. She has contributed to European research projects including meSch (Material Encounters with Digital Cultural Heritage) and Innovage, specializing in digital exhibitions and tangible user interfaces.

With 15+ years as a software engineer, her technical expertise spans full-stack development, cybersecurity protocols, and IoT systems integration. She maintains active research in museum technology and assistive computing through affiliations with the Art Design and Media Research Centre.
