Dr. Simone Lomartire is a Lecturer in Italian at the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures, University of Leeds, where she also serves as the Director of Italian. She has been an integral part of the university since 2006, contributing to teaching, research, and academic leadership.
Her educational background includes a PhD in English from the University of Leeds, an MA in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies, an MA in Irish Studies, and a BA in English, French, and Education from the Catholic University of Milan (graduated cum laude). She also holds a PGCHE from Leeds Beckett University.
Dr. Lomartire's research is centered on innovative language teaching methodologies, particularly CLIL and the glottodrama method, with applications across interdisciplinary curricula. She explores the integration of language apps for independent learning and promotes multilingualism in higher education. Her scholarly work also extends to Theatre and Cinema Studies and Irish Memoir Writing.
