Simone Lehrl is a Professor for Educational Sciences at the Weingarten University of Education since January 2022. She previously held roles as a research and teaching scientist at the University of Bamberg (2008–2019), a postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Psychology I - Developmental Psychology (2018–2020), and a Deputy Chair of Educational Sciences at Weingarten (2020–2021). Her research focuses on early childhood learning environments, their quality in institutional and home settings, and their impact on child development, particularly in language, literacy, and mathematics.
She has contributed to major research projects, including the DFG Research Unit's "Educational Processes, Competence Development and Selection Decisions in Preschool and School Age" and the BiKSplus [3-13] follow-up study. She is actively involved in the Corona study, investigating the social-emotional development of kindergarten-aged children during the pandemic, in collaboration with the University of Munich's Department of Empirical Education and Educational Psychology.
