Simone Favelle

Assoc. Professor Simone Favelle is an Associate Professor at the School of Psychology, University of Wollongong, Australia (2020–present). Her research focuses on visual cognition, particularly face recognition processes, addressing challenges such as viewpoint and lighting variations. Applications include improving security systems and aiding special populations. She holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Wollongong.

Research interests include face perception, social cognition, and the impact of facial features on social interactions. She has explored holistic processing, other-race effects, and dynamic facial expressions. Her work bridges fundamental cognitive science with applied security and technology.

Teaching roles include Academic Program Director for the Singapore branch of UOW's Psychology program. Supervised topics span schizotypy, facial expression recognition, and self-regulated learning. Funded projects include ARC grants on face perception and visual cognition.
