Dr. Simone Carmine is an Assistant Professor at IÉSEG School of Management focusing on strategy and sustainability. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics & Management from the University of Padova and completed postdoctoral research there before joining IÉSEG.
Carmine's research centers on sustainability paradoxes in business contexts, examining tensions between economic, social, and environmental objectives. His work develops frameworks for resolving conflicting priorities in multinational corporations and industrial districts, with recent investigations into implementing Sustainable Development Goals.
His publications explore corporate sustainability through paradox theory, organizational tensions during crises, and sustainability governance. Recent work addresses the local/global challenges of multinational corporations operating in industrial districts.
Dr. Carmine has received multiple awards including Best Paper at the Academy of Management Meeting (2025) and Honorable Mention at the International Social Innovation Research Conference (2022).
He teaches Business Ethics & CSR, Business & Sustainability, and Environmental Management, covering topics from corporate responsibility to sustainable development frameworks.
