Simona Guerra

Dr. Simona Guerra is a Senior Lecturer in Comparative Politics at the University of Surrey, affiliated with the Centre for Britain and Europe within the Politics and International Relations department. She holds a DPhil from the University of Sussex, alongside advanced degrees from Siena, Strasbourg, Krakow, and Pisa universities. Her research focuses on European integration dynamics, particularly contested domestic politics, Euroscepticism, and the historical roles of women in shaping early EU institutions. Notably, she explores the under-represented contributions of pioneering female figures like Käte Strobel, emphasizing their impact on contemporary European governance. Guerra’s work bridges political history and contemporary issues, analyzing public opinion, religious influences, and populist movements across Europe. Recent publications address trust patterns among EU members and the legacy of early European advocates. She teaches courses on European integration, political representation, and democratization in Eastern Europe. Recognized for her teaching excellence with a 2021 award, Guerra actively contributes to academic discourse through UACES collaborations and media engagements.
