Simona Feci is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human and Social Sciences (DSUS) at the University of Palermo. She holds a degree in Literature from Sapienza University of Rome and a PhD in Modern and Contemporary History from the University of Naples L'Orientale, specializing in the History of the Family and Gender Identity between the 18th and 20th Centuries in European Society. Since 2008, she has been a researcher in History of Medieval and Modern Law (GIUR-16/A), becoming an associate professor in 2016. In 2024, she joined the Department of Human and Social Sciences at the University of Palermo.
Her research focuses on social history and the legal dimension, particularly examining the history of women's legal status, the history of justice, and the history of crime and interpersonal and gender-based violence. She is actively involved in several international research projects including ROTAROM17, which studies the Roman Rota and transnational legal culture in Europe (c. 1560-1700), DÉFI: Droits, Économies, Femmes, Italie, and 'Femicide. Interdisciplinary Approaches to a Global Historical Phenomenon' at the Center for Advanced Studies of the LUM in Monaco.
Professor Feci coordinates the DSUS Gender History Study Center and serves on the editorial board of 'Genesis. Journal of the Italian Society of Historians.' She is also a member of the teaching staff for the doctorate in 'Gender Studies' at the University of Palermo. Her scholarly contributions span legal history, gender studies, and social history with a particular emphasis on women's experiences within historical legal frameworks.
