Simona Consoli is a Full Professor of Agricultural Hydraulics and Forestry Systems at the University of Catania, affiliated with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Di3A). She has held various leadership roles, including Deputy Director of Di3A (since 2022), Director of CUTGANA (2022/23), and former President of the Degree Course in Land and Landscape Planning and Protection (2016-2022).
Her research focuses on micrometeorological and surface energy balance techniques for crop evapotranspiration measurement, remote sensing for water stress detection, sustainable irrigation strategies (deficit irrigation), phytoremediation systems for wastewater reuse, and soil-plant-atmosphere interactions. Key projects include EU-funded DIONYSUS, HANDYWATER, and SAMOTHRACE, where she leads precision agriculture initiatives.
She has authored over 150 international publications (H-index: 25) and serves as Associate Editor for Agricultural Water Management and Heliyon. Awards include ASCE's Honorable Mention Paper Award (2007) and a Best Paper Award (2022). Her teaching spans Land and Landscape Planning, Water Resources in Agriculture, and Constructed Wetland Systems.
