Dr Simon Waldman is a Lecturer at King's College London, affiliated with the Department of War Studies and the Defence Studies Department within the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. He holds a PhD and MA from King's College London's Department of Middle Eastern Studies, and a BA in Politics and Sociology from Brunel University.
His research focuses on international diplomacy towards the Middle East, Turkish history and politics, Kurdish politics, and the Arab-Israeli conflict. He has authored Anglo–American Diplomacy and the Palestinian Refugee Problem (2015) and co-authored The New Turkey and its Discontents (2017). His academic articles analyze topics such as Turkey’s post-2016 coup dynamics, media control in authoritarian regimes, and UNRWA's early history.
