Simon Thorpe

Dr. Simon Thorpe is a Lecturer at the University of Westminster School of Law since 2022, specializing in intersections between law and politics. He previously held a Postdoctoral Early Career Fellowship at the University of Warwick's Institute of Advanced Study.

Simon's research focuses on post-Marxist and heterodox approaches to constitutional theory, social movement studies, and concepts of prefiguration/hegemony. He applies these frameworks to analyze movement-parties like Madrid's Ahora Madrid and Occupy London, exploring radical democratic practices.

His recent publications examine prefigurative constitutionality in municipalism, reconceptualizing rights in Occupy movements, and Foucauldian resistance theories. Key methodological tools include ethnography and grounded theory.
