Simon Rowland-Jones is a Professor of Viola at the Royal College of Music (RCM) and has led a diverse musical career as a performer, editor, composer, and teacher. He founded the Chilingirian Quartet and made his solo recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 1979. His notable recordings include the complete works for viola and piano by Ernest Bloch and Benjamin Dale, interpretations of Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, and his transcription of Bach's Cello Suites, which was published by Peters Edition. As an editor, he oversees the new Peters edition of Haydn’s String Quartets, and his compositional focus lies in string chamber music and works for viola, piano, and voice.
