Simon Polovina

Dr Simon Polovina is an Associate Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University’s School of Computing and Digital Technologies, located within the College of Business, Technology and Engineering. His work harmonizes computer productivity with human and business creativity through Enterprise Architecture, Conceptual Structures, and Knowledge Architectures.

Research Focus: His research spans enterprise systems, formal ontologies, conceptual graphs, formal concept analysis, and intelligent systems. He integrates these into practical applications in cloud infrastructures, SAP systems, user experience design, and strategic data communications.

Contributions: With over 110 scholarly publications, he has co-chaired major international conferences such as ICCS and MOVE, and served as editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Conceptual Structures and Smart Applications (IJCSSA).

Teaching & Supervision: He teaches modules like Business Analysis for Enterprise Systems, Strategic Communications with Data Infrastructures, and Research Skills and Dissertation. He has supervised 10+ PhD students, including recent graduates like Richard Fallon and ongoing candidates like Jamie Caine.

Collaborations: He collaborates with international researchers and industry partners, contributing to EU frameworks like EMPRISES and leading initiatives in enterprise ontology and strategic intelligence.
