Simon Marvin

Simon Marvin is a Professor in the School of Architecture, Design and Planning at The University of Sydney (2020/21 fractional appointment) and Director of the Urban Institute at the University of Sheffield. He has held academic roles at Newcastle, Salford, and Durham Universities prior to his current positions. His research focuses on urban sustainability transitions, smart cities, climate change governance, and infrastructural systems. Key areas of expertise include low-carbon urban development, urban AI applications, and socio-technical networks.

Recent work explores computational urbanism, artificial intelligence in city planning, and the political dimensions of climate adaptation.
