Simon Heinz

Simon Heinz serves as an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Information Systems and Management at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Augsburg. Concurrently, he holds the executive position of Digital & Tech Head DACH at Haleon (formerly GSK Consumer Healthcare), where he oversees all IT operations for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. He additionally runs the consultancy productbento, mentors startups at LeAD Sports Accelerator (Adidas Family), and serves on the advisory council of THI Business School.

He earned his M.Sc. in Business Administration with a specialization in Digital Innovation from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. His academic background bridges theoretical business administration with practical digital implementation expertise.

His research focuses on digital innovation within information systems, particularly examining how organizations develop digital business models and implement IT strategies in complex ecosystems. His work investigates the strategic implications of interconnected digital platforms, emphasizing how businesses navigate transitions in multi-product environments through adaptive switching behaviors and ecosystem design.

His sole publication in the ICIS 2015 Proceedings analyzes the extension of customer switching theories from isolated products to interconnected ecosystem structures. This research reveals critical patterns in how users navigate complex digital landscapes, highlighting the strategic importance of platform interdependencies and cross-product retention tactics in modern business ecosystems.

Within the university, Heinz contributes to Prof. Dr. Daniel Veit's Information Systems and Management research team, focusing on practical applications of digital transformation theories.
