Dr. Simon Ghanat is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering at The Citadel's School of Engineering. He joined the faculty in January 2014 and holds a Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Arizona State University. Previously, he taught at Bucknell University and Arizona State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in South Carolina.

He teaches courses such as Mechanics of Materials, Geotechnical Engineering, and Engineering Practice & Professional Licensure.
Dr. Ghanat has received awards in teaching, research, and service from The Citadel, ASEE, and ASEE-SE. He also serves as an instructor for the Federal Highway Administration’s National Highway Institute, conducting workshops on seismic design for transportation engineers.
