Simon Estes

Simon Estes is the F. Wendell Miller Distinguished Artist in Residence at Iowa State University, part of the College of Music. His career spans decades as an internationally acclaimed bass baritone performing in major opera houses and orchestras globally. He has performed over 100 roles, including notable engagements with the Washington Opera Company under Placido Domingo.

Estes holds a distinguished academic role as a Professor at the Juilliard School of Music since 1985, where he mentors young musicians. His humanitarian efforts include establishing the Simon Estes Educational Foundation (Oklahoma) and the Simon Estes International Foundation for Children in Switzerland, providing scholarships and healthcare support for disadvantaged youth.

He advocates for merit-based education and has brought South African students to Iowa through the Simon Estes South African Youth Chorus. His legacy includes honorary degrees from institutions like Iowa State University and a commitment to uplifting future generations through music and education.
