Silvio Eberhardt

Silvio P. Eberhardt is a Research Professor in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Science at George Washington University. As part of the Communication Neuroscience Laboratory, his research investigates multisensory integration in speech perception, particularly lipreading and vibrotactile sensory substitution approaches.

He has developed automated systems for behavioral and EEG studies of speech processing. Eberhardt's recent work examines neural mechanisms underlying vibrotactile speech perception and learning differences between auditory and visual speech modalities. His interdisciplinary background includes engineering and computer science instruction, with ten U.S. patents in related technologies.
