Silvia Beltramo

Dr. Silvia Beltramo is an Associate Professor in the Interuniversity Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning (DIST) at Politecnico di Torino, where she contributes significantly to architectural and urban heritage research and education. She serves as Vice Coordinator of the PhD programme in Architectural and Landscape Heritage and is a member of the Interdepartmental Center R3C (Responsible Risk Resilience Centre) and the Joint Committee on Teaching. Her academic roles span teaching, research leadership, and doctoral supervision.

Her research interests focus on the history of architecture, particularly medieval and early modern periods, urban development, cultural heritage, European cultural routes, construction history, and archaeology of architecture. She integrates gender history and cultural studies into her work, aligning with broader goals of sustainable cities, quality education, and gender equality.

Dr. Beltramo’s recent scholarly output reflects a strong focus on mendicant architecture, monastic landscapes, urban transformations, and heritage conservation across Italy and Europe. Her publications span topics such as cloister design, papal influence on urban form, alpine cultural routes, and structural innovations in medieval vaults. She frequently collaborates with scholars across disciplines and institutions.

She has supervised doctoral students, including Melda Kaplan, and leads externally funded research projects, such as those related to the Villa Radicati di Saluzzo and the European Institute of Cultural Routes. Her work often bridges academic research with public engagement, policy, and heritage management.

Dr. Beltramo is actively involved in academic service, teaching a range of courses from urban history to architectural heritage, and has contributed to edited volumes and international conferences.
