Silvana Bartoletto

Silvana Bartoletto is an Associate Professor of Economic History, Energy Transitions, and Economic Growth at the University of Naples Parthenope's Department of Economic and Legal Studies (DISEG). She is actively involved in the PhD program in Economics, Statistics and Sustainability, serving on the steering committee and lecturing on 'Energy and Economic Growth.' Her research focuses on long-term economic dynamics, energy transitions, and environmental sustainability in Mediterranean contexts.

She collaborates with major European initiatives, including COST Action CA18215 (China-Europe Research Network) and CA18110 (Underground Built Heritage Valorisation), contributing to strategic infrastructure and cultural heritage projects. Bartoletto also participates in Bank of Italy's historical energy dependence studies and coordinates a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Naples Parthenope and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM). She is affiliated with SEA-EU, the European Maritime University.

Her research explores energy-economy-environment interlinkages, banking system efficiency over centuries, and Mediterranean regional development. Key themes include post-carbon energy economies, historical CO₂ emission trajectories, and the role of credit in economic fluctuations. Her work bridges macroeconomic analysis with environmental and historical perspectives.

Bartoletto has authored influential books like Energy Transitions in Mediterranean Countries (2020) and Energy and Economic Growth in the Mediterranean (2016). Her articles appear in journals such as Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, Energy Economics, and Journal of Macroeconomics, addressing topics from banking crises to renewable energy policy impacts.
