Silke Bugge

Silke Bugge is a Lecturer of German at Sam Houston State University (SHSU), joining in August 2016. She teaches Elementary and Intermediate German courses and has served as an advisor for the German Club. Holding a master’s degree in German and English Language and Literature from Humboldt University in Berlin, her thesis focused on teaching world literature in public schools. She is a member of the Texas Foreign Language Association and Delta Phi Alpha (German National Honors Society), with prior teaching experience at the German Institute of the Southwest and Houston Sängerbund.

Her research emphasizes language acquisition in communicative settings, pedagogy, and multiculturalism in German textbooks. Key interests include the works of Ernst Bloch and Victor Klemperer, East Germany’s cultural and individual perspectives, and how songs reflect social issues in German history.
