Siddharth Ramakrishnan

Siddharth Ramakrishnan is an Assistant Professor of Biology and Director of Neuroscience at the University of Puget Sound. His research focuses on the modulation of the reproductive neuroendocrine system by environmental endocrine disruptors like bisphenol A (BPA), examining effects on GnRH neuron development, physiology, and associated behaviors in zebrafish and medaka models.

• Education: PhD in Neuroscience (University of Illinois at Chicago), MS in Computer Sciences (University of Illinois at Chicago), BE in Computer Sciences (Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India)

His expertise spans electrophysiology, small animal models, bioelectronic devices, and cellular membranes. Recent projects include NSF-funded studies on transgenerational impacts of BPA exposure and collaborations with artists to explore topics like Hox genes and biomimicry through exhibits at the Microwave New Media Festival and the New School of Design. He has also developed advanced neuroscience courses and an Art+Science collective to bridge interdisciplinary research and creative practice.

Ramakrishnan’s lab employs confocal imaging, immunohistochemistry, and behavioral assays to investigate the intersection of neurodevelopment and environmental toxicology, with potential implications for human reproductive health.
