About
Dr. Shyam Balaji is a Research Fellow in the Department of Physics at King's College London, affiliated with the Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology Group (TPPC). He previously held a postdoctoral position at Sorbonne University's LPTHE under Prof. Joseph Silk (2021–2023). His research focuses on astroparticle physics and cosmology, particularly dark matter, gravitational waves, and early universe phenomena. Balaji earned his PhD in particle physics from the University of Sydney (2021) and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Western Australia.
Research interests include sub-GeV dark matter annihilation, primordial black holes as dark matter candidates, gravitational wave signatures from inflation, and CP asymmetries in particle decays. His work leverages Earth/space-based experiments like H.E.S.S., SPI Integral, and LHC's ATLAS collaboration. Notable contributions include deriving stringent constraints on dark matter using galactic emissions and exploring magnetogenesis via phase transitions.
Publications span topics like cosmic microwave background analysis, supernova particle searches, and gravitational wave forecasts. Balaji actively engages in poverty reduction initiatives and educational mentorship for underserved communities.
