Shukri Afazov is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), where he has worked since 2019. Prior to this, he held roles as a Senior Lecturer at NTU (2019–2022), Principal Engineer at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) (2014–2019), and Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham (2009–2012). He specializes in advanced manufacturing technologies, digital twins, digital manufacturing, structural integrity, and computer-aided engineering.
His research focuses on:
- Commercializing a resilient biasing device (International Patent WO/2025/027292).
- Advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing and precision machining.
- Digital manufacturing applications of AI, deep learning, and data analytics.
- Structural integrity analysis (fatigue, creep, permanent deformations).
- Computer-aided engineering (CAD, CAM, FEA, DEM, CFD).
He has published over 50 papers and collaborates with industry partners on high-value manufacturing projects. His roles include mentoring students, leading applied research, and serving as Employability Manager for the department.
