College of the Holy CrossAbout
Shreyashi Chakdar is an Associate Professor in the Physics Department at the College of the Holy Cross. She joined the College in 2019 and holds a PhD from Oklahoma State University. Her research focuses on theoretical particle physics beyond the Standard Model, including dark matter, neutrino physics, cosmology, and effective field theories related to the Large Hadron Collider. She has advised numerous undergraduate students in cutting-edge research projects and is a strong advocate for diversity in physics through her leadership of the 'Women in Physics' group at Holy Cross.
Education: BSc (Lady Brabourne College), MSc (IIT Roorkee), PhD (Oklahoma State University). Postdoctoral positions included the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (UCSB) and University of Virginia. She has held roles such as Visiting Researcher at CERN (2024), Secretary of APS FECS (2021-2022), and Kavli Institute Scholar (2019-2021).
Research interests emphasize dark matter mechanisms, neutrino mass generation, and cosmological implications of BSM physics. Her work bridges theoretical models with experimental signatures at colliders like the LHC. Awards include the prestigious Kavli Institute Scholar position.
- Teaching: Introductory Physics, Modern Physics, Classical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics
- Key Roles: Founded Holy Cross' Women in Physics initiative
