Shogo Kudo

Dr. Shogo Kudo is an Associate Professor at the Global Studies Program, Faculty of International Liberal Arts, Akita International University. He also serves as a Research Associate at the Center for Asian Studies in Africa, University of Pretoria, and a Research Fellow in the Department of Geography at the University of the Free State.

Research Focus: His work explores sustainable community designs in aging and depopulating rural societies through translocal learning—a methodology for collective knowledge exchange across diverse regions. He investigates environmental, socioeconomic, and cultural dimensions of sustainability and redefines development paradigms in shrinking societies.

Publications Trends: His recent studies (2023-2024) analyze intergenerational equity, urban-rural linkages, and community-based resource management. Earlier work (2018-2021) emphasizes transdisciplinary education, resilience frameworks, and civic pride in rural revitalization.
