Professor Shirley Jansen is a leading academic and medical researcher affiliated with Curtin University and the University of Western Australia (UWA). She holds multiple leadership roles, including Joint Program Head of the Cardiovascular Science and Diabetes Program at the Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research, Director of the Heart and Vascular Research Institute, and Group Leader of the Vascular & Endovascular Surgery Research Laboratory. Additionally, she serves as Head of the Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, a quaternary referral center managing 900 in-patients annually. Her research spans clinical trials, vascular pathologies, and bioengineering innovation, with over 60 publications and 50 national/international presentations.

Since her PhD, Jansen has specialized in clinical management of carotid and peripheral vascular disease, diabetic foot disease, venous leg ulcers, and bioengineering integration.
