Shih-chieh Su

Dr. Shih-chieh "Jay" Su is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Liberal Arts at Delaware Valley University. His research focuses on national historiographies, historical methodologies, and the institutionalization of history as a discipline.

He is currently working on a manuscript titled The Mnemons of the National Truth: Forgetting, Historical Profession and National Identities in the Nineteenth-Century Germany and France, comparing German historicism (Ranke) and French nationalism (Michelet) within European historiography. His future research plans to expand this analysis to global contexts, examining how the Rankean paradigm influenced nation-state formation in Japan, China, Taiwan, post-Soviet states, and postcolonial regions.
