Dr. Shewanee Howard-Baptiste serves as the Vice Provost for Academic Outreach and Professor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). She teaches courses in Health Behavior Change, Sociology of Sport, Personal Health, and Community and Environmental Health within the Department of Health and Human Performance. With over seventeen years of experience in secondary and collegiate education, she focuses on helping students discover their "why" and integrates multicultural perspectives into her pedagogy.
Her research emphasizes public health initiatives in Haiti and promoting healthy lifestyle choices among minority adolescents. Every summer, she travels to Haiti to develop health and physical education curricula and collaborate with local teachers. She has also taught and studied abroad in Denmark, Switzerland, France, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti.
