Dr. Sheryl Sorby is Professor in Engineering and Computing Education at the University of Cincinnati. She develops interventions to enhance spatial skills and retention in STEM fields, supported by $3M+ NSF funding.
Her research establishes correlations between spatial abilities and success in engineering/problem-solving. Sorby created the widely-used Spatial Vis software and leads the EnViSIONS initiative to implement spatial training in K-16 education. Current NSF projects examine spatial-design relationships and personalized learning modules.
With 120+ publications, Sorby has received ASEE awards for educational research. She previously chaired ASEE's Educational Research and Methods Division and advises international engineering education reforms.
