Sheryl Kroen is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Florida specializing in Modern European cultural and intellectual history. She holds a BA from Princeton University (1984), MA (1987), and PhD (1992) from the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on political culture, consumer capitalism, and post-WWII European reinvention. She authored Politics and Theater: The Crisis of Legitimacy in Restoration France (2000) and is completing a book on postwar European recovery campaigns. Kroen has held fellowships from Fulbright, NEH, and the Humboldt Foundation, among others.

Her current research explores how post-WWII governments used media campaigns to reframe Europe as the vanguard of Western Civilization. She has held residencies at Columbia Society for Fellows in Paris and the National Humanities Center.
