Sherona Garrett-Ruffin

Sherona Garrett-Ruffin is a Teaching Professor and Vice Chair of Undergraduate Instruction in the Department of Psychology at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). She holds a B.A. in Biopsychology from Oberlin College, an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from BGSU, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Kent State University. Her research focuses on psychophysiology, particularly EEG data analysis, and emphasizes multicultural perspectives in neuroscience. Current projects include developing decolonized psychology curricula through a multi-institutional initiative funded by the American Psychological Science Association (APS), and participating in global EEG replication studies (#EEGManyLabs). She teaches courses like Psychophysiology, Abnormal Psychology, and laboratory methods in psychology.

Her work bridges neuroscience with educational equity, including pioneering undergraduate psychophysiology labs and evaluating programs to support underrepresented students in STEM. She actively sponsors undergraduate research and emphasizes open science practices in neuroscientific inquiry. Despite not taking graduate students, she contributes significantly to pedagogical innovation and collaborative research networks.
