Sheree Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Cinema Department at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts. An MFA graduate from Florida State University College of Motion Picture Arts, her creative practice explores the poetics of human connection, memory, and individual subjectivity through film.
Her professional experience spans independent films to studio productions, with notable contributions as editor on the Emmy-winning documentary 'Invisible History: Middle Florida’s Hidden Roots' and associate producer for Stanley Nelson's 'Sound of the Police' (ABC/Hulu). She collaborates on projects amplifying underrepresented voices and developing inclusive educational resources.
As a VCUarts Cinema program alumna, she brings industry experience and academic perspective to teaching. Additional interests include narrative innovation and community-engaged filmmaking practices.
