Shen ZeXiang

Shen ZeXiang is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair (Academics & Graduate Studies) at the School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He holds a BSc from Jilin University (1982) and a PhD from King’s College, University of London (1989). His research focuses on near-field Raman microscopy, 2D materials, energy storage, and plasmonics. He leads a lab with state-of-the-art facilities including AFM, Raman, and SEM instruments.

Key roles include Program Chair of the Interdisciplinary Graduate School and Co-Director of the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies. His grants span nanostructural imaging, strained silicon characterization, and semiconductor quantum dots. Over 150 publications highlight his contributions to materials science and nanotechnology.

He has supervised numerous PhD students and postdocs, with notable achievements like Dr. Jilei LIU’s Thousand Talents Program selection. His lab collaborates widely, commercializing innovations like near-field Raman microscopy. Current projects include energy storage materials and plasmonic nanostructures.
