About
Dr. Shen Xueyan is an Associate Professor at James Cook University (Singapore campus). She holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2007) and M.Sc. in Aquaculture (2004) from Ocean University of China, alongside a B.Sc. in Aquaculture (1999) from Hebei Normal University of Science and Technology. Her research focuses on developing genomic tools and selective breeding strategies to enhance aquaculture productivity and disease resistance in species like Asian seabass, tilapia, and Asian arowana. She previously led aquaculture genomics projects at the Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory (2010–2019) and conducted postdoctoral work on genomic resources at NIBB, Japan.
Research interests include genomic resource development, functional feed trials, and omics approaches to study fish immunity and gut microbiome. She collaborates with industry and governmental institutes to advance tropical marine aquaculture systems. Currently, she leads projects on cobia genome analysis and Asian arowana genome assembly.
No scientific awards or grants are explicitly listed in the provided text. Her advising and lab activities are not detailed here, but she emphasizes collaborative efforts to modernize aquaculture practices through genetic innovation.
